Opepe is a hard timber which generally comes from the African continent. It was used in the 1940’s to the 1960’s in the UK for hardwood flooring in domestic and commercial situations, but now has become very rare for this use due to availability and cost. The colour of Opepe tends to be a ochre to warm orange and with it’s fine straight grain it makes a beautiful hardwood floor.
From the 28th January 2010 we are now open till 7pm on Thursday nights at our Glasgow Showroom. So pop in after work to view our wide range of Flooring products.
A very big thanks to Mr Geraghty for sending in his images of the Junckers Reclaimed Sports Flooring that he purchased from McKay Flooring last year.
As you can see he has done a fantastic job of installing, sanding & sealing the boards. A lot of work goes into reclaimed flooring, but as you can see from the images it’s well worth it.

The Netherlands, Jan. 12, 2010–After exactly 20 years of existence the members of the Euparal Association have decided to change their name to the Global Flooring Alliance.
The organization is an association of European parquet importers and distributors.
“After twenty years it’s good to reflect. Markets have changed but also the Association has changed within this period,” says Carlo Cavinato, who has taken over the Euparal presidency from Bjarne Pedersen in 2009 and will be de facto the first GFA president.
Global Flooring Alliance will officially present itself at Domotex.
In 1989 a group of four parquet importers and distributors founded the international organization Euparal. Trading in a ‘new’ European market with open boundaries they foresaw the need for exchanging information and assisting each other in coping with the changed market circumstances.
“With Global Flooring Alliance we want to make a statement we see ourselves as a global organization which welcomes new members from countries worldwide,” Cavinato said.
The aims of the association are to promote parquet in general and to exchange product, market and technical information.
