The recent £12 million refurbishment of the iconic Stirling Castle required the sensitive restoration of some of the existing solid oak flooring as well as sourcing and matching the age old timbers with the some new prime grade quarter sawn Scottish oak.
McKay Flooring were delighted to be tasked with providing the required high quality materials as well as undertaking the tricky installation and resurfacing work. Scottish grown prime oak samples were sourced and presented to the architectural team and once approved the seasoned Scottish oak timbers were sent to the saw mill to be cut to the bespoke sizes required to match the existing historic flooring.

That is a beautiful looking place. The floors shine like new from the picture. Was curious to how many square feet it was and what type of finish you used on this floor. Was it water popped? We subscribe to your feed, looking forward to your response.
The total area of new oak flooring we installed was just under 400m2. Once sanded the floors were finished with several coats of a hard wearing water-borne 100% polyurethane lacquer.
