The Glasgow Construction Forum

The Glasgow Construction Forum was launched this morning at McKay Flooring’s Glasgow Showroom. Over 60 businesses were in attendance at the inaugural Glasgow Construction Forum which was facilitated by James Andrew, ex president of The Glasgow Chamber of Commerce with guest speaker Graeme Ogilvy of ConstructionSkills in Scotland who kicked off the event with a discussion on ‘The future skills needs in construction’.

Background

When `Think Different Events Ltd` Managing Director approached Richard McKay, Director at McKay Flooring, Richard immediately sensed this as a valuable opportunity for the `Construction Sector`. Both he and Martin knew that this could be an event where business’s all experiencing similar daily challenges could meet and discuss ways to move their business forward. Sure enough within 7 days of the invitations being sent out, acceptances were being received from key companies in the Construction Sector, the majority of the individuals are senior management and director level.

Objectives

By bringing a number of businesses and agencies together under the umbrella of The Glasgow Construction Forum, a key objective is to listen to the issues currently being faced by those working within the industry and identify speakers and contacts who will be able to share their knowledge and insight into how these issues can be addressed. In addition, the forum will offer an opportunity to develop a local and national network of contacts who can work together in future projects.

By maintaining existing business relationships and offering an opportunity to develop new ones, the forum offers an invaluable support to the key players across the sector.
