Situated inside St James Seminary in the Portuguese town of Braga this spectacular chapel was built using over 20 tons of untreated timber employing only traditional carpentry methods to fix the wood, no nails or adhesive utilised. A collaboration between renowned local architectural practice António Jorge Cerejeira Fontes and Norwegian sculptor Asbjörn Andresen the design and finer details of this beautiful wooden structure was inspired from parables taken directly from the bible.
Titled the ‘Tree of Life’ this space is intended as a prayer room and place of contemplation.
